Barnard Castle is a market,residential and tourist town,recognised as one of the 51 most historically and architecturally important towns in Great Britain. Witham Hall,managed by a local trust is the main hall in the town,built in 1854 by public subscription. It is located on The Horsemarket which is on the main road into the town and prime shopping street.
